My courses are suitable for both beginners and students with previous experience. You will be working in a professional studio in Hertfordshire, with a maximum of two students at any one time. Over the two days you will learn how to make a stained glass panel. The course will cover glass cutting, simple design, choosing glass, drawing a pattern, leading and soldering, cementing and polishing. You may also decorate some pieces in your panel by sandblasting. The studio is equipped with all the tools you will need and the materials required to make your panel are included in the course fee. Refreshments and a light lunch are included on both days. If you are a beginner, you can make a panel up to 30cm square, using straight lines, with 10-15 pieces of glass. Students with previous experience may incorporate curves into their designs. You are welcome to bring design ideas with you, but don't worry if your mind goes blank at the thought of designing... I will help you prepare a suitable design. Please wear old clothes as you will get dirty and bring a pair of rubber gloves with you. For safety's sake do not wear open-toed shoes or have bare legs. If you are pregnant you should consult your doctor before enrolling on the course. Course dates Courses run throughout the year, on two consecutive weekdays or over a weekend. As there are only one or two students on each course, I can be flexible regarding dates - please ring to arrange suitable dates. The course will normally run from 9.30am to 5.30pm on the first day and from 9.30am until you finish on the second day (some students finish earlier than others). Course fees This includes all the materials you will need, use of the sandblaster, tea, coffee and a light lunch on both days. |
